Brad Gobright Attempting to Free the Aid Climb, Desert Solitaire, 5.13b

Brad Gobright on the 6th pitch of the aid climb, Desert Solitaire, on the Rainbow Wall of Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas. This climb has only been freed by a few climbers, one of them being Alex Honnold. Working a project on something like this takes an incredible amount of effort. A 2 hour hike through blistering Vegas sun, then a scramble up a thousand feet of steep death slabs, and 5 pitches of vertical, runout 5.12 climbing, which he linked together in 3 pitches. Unfortunately it is still a project for Brad, but the only intended climb he didn't finish during his 2 months in Red Rocks, with sends including the 5.13c Buffalo Wall. It always amazes me to watch people so dedicated to their craft. Looking forward to spending some time in Yosemite later this season with Brad.
